Camp Damaged By Vandals Launches GoFundMe For Repairs

MIDDLETON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Time is running out to repair a summer camp that was destroyed by vandals.

It's been a little over a month since teenagers caused extensive damage at Camp Creighton in Middleton.

Brian Therrien, Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Lynn, told WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas the teens destroyed pool tables and vending machines, and sprayed the entire place with fire extinguisher chemicals.

"They ripped off the water fountain," Therrien said. "They went into both bathrooms, the toilets, the sinks ripped off the wall ... when you walked in, it was complete destruction from the beginning all the way through the rec hall."

Therrien said kids come to the camp to experience nature and have fun, but in order to get the place ready for this summer, they need help—so they've launched a GoFundMe page, and aim to be open by June 10 if they can get the money they need.

"We raised about close to $100,000," he said. "The GoFundMe page came in at about $10,000. Right now, we have a gap of about $35,000."

He said the Middleton community has been a great help, but welcomes more individuals or companies who would want to step up for the kids.
