BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Every year, a summer camp run by the Massachusetts Association of Women in Law Enforcement (MAWLE) ends with a service project.
This summer’s project was in the form of a massive stair climb.
Twenty-four girls, in grades 6-8, attended the MAWLE and Me Summer Camp Program, where they learned about career paths for women in law enforcement.
On Friday, campers ran up and down the stairs at the Boston Police Department Headquarters to raise funds for victims of abuse through the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County (CAC). The event was called the "Ginormous Climb."
“Climb all floors in the essence of families climbing out of what tragedy they’ve been through,” Boston Police Sgt. Lauren Woods told the girls participating.
“The CAC provides all free services, including mental health and medical and other resources for families that are navigating after a disclosure of abuse,” Jacquelyn Lamont, with the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office, said.
