Candidate Josh Kraft Slams Mayor Wu Over Violence At Boston Youth Job Fair

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mayoral candidate Josh Kraft slammed Boston Mayor Michelle Wu after violence abruptly ended an event at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.

On Saturday, the City of Boston hosted its 2025 Youth Job and Resource Fair, giving teenagers the chance to connect with hundreds of employers as they search for summer jobs. A large fight forced the event to be cancelled early, and authorities ordered hundreds of teenagers to leave the building.

Outside of the Reggie Lewis Center on Monday, Kraft criticized Mayor Wu over the event, pointing to the lack of proper security until things got out of hand. He also demanded that she reschedule the event.

“If they knew the attendance was going to be large, why were they so underprepared?” said Kraft. “I’m calling on the mayor and her administration to schedule another job fair and show up for the event. Ensure it’s properly staffed.”

When asked what he would have done differently, Kraft said he would surround himself with the right people who can make promises a reality.

“I don’t think city services are a priority [for Mayor Wu]. What’s a priority is political ideology and large promises, but you need people who can make things happen, not people who can talk about politics,” said Kraft.

WBZ NewsRadio has reached out to Mayor Wu’s Office for comment but did not immediately hear back.
