Cape Cod Man Charged With Killing His Mother

MASHPEE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A 26-year-old Cape Cod man was arrested Friday morning in connection with the murder of his mother.

According to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe and Mashpee Police Chief Scott Carline, multiple 911 calls came in shortly after 11 a.m. Friday about a disturbance outside an apartment on Wampanoag Drive in Mashpee.

As the Cape Cod Times reports, police arrived at the residential community to find 26-year-old Andrew Baily "acting erratically."

Officers entered the apartment and found Baily's mother, 60-year-old Cheryl Crowell, unresponsive in a bedroom. She was taken to Falmouth Hospital, where she died.

Baily is expected to be arraigned next week on charges of murder, strangulation and assault and battery, according to the Cape Cod Times.

Authorities are still investigating.
