BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A rehabilitation center in Boston's South End is helping squirrels and other small animals get back on their furry four legs from injuries most often caused by human interaction.
Claudia Biddle-Travis, founder of the non-profit Golden Bough Wildlife Inc., tells WBZ's James Rojas that squirrels are her most common patients, sometimes in need of surgeries, but there are other mammals who require a helping hand from time to time.
"We can treat raccoons, we can treat skunks, we can treat possums. It could be somebody with their dog off leash and they're going to bolt for wildlife. We deal with people skateboarding, biking, and those animals are used to crossing those paths— they get wacked," Biddle-Travis said.

Though her operation is based out of Cape Cod, Biddle-Travis makes trips to Boston to help out the animals she adores.
"It is more elevating than anything I've probably ever seen," Biddle-Travis said.
Biddle-Travis goes on to say that the best way to limit these injuries is to educate the public. Golden Bough Wildlife Inc. strictly runs off donations, and anyone can help wildlife get the care they need by contributing. Those interested in doing so can find out more here.
