Car Crashes Directly Into Hyde Park Home Overnight

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Hyde Park woman says she is lucky she didn't get hurt after a car crashed directly into her home on Poplar Street Thursday night.

Pauline Glenn said the crash happened at around 11 p.m. while she was watching TV in her living room with her dog Rutherford and a friend -- sitting just a few feet away from the point of impact.

“All of a sudden, the whole part in front of my house was taken off by a car,” Glenn said.

She added that the car ended up upside down on her front lawn after hitting two parked cars and damaging a neighbor's wooden fence.

"It hit my neighbors car first so I heard the crash and the whole front exploded...glass went flying everywhere," Glenn said.

The vehicle tore off Glenn's front door & porch -- but fortunately no one suffered any injuries. The car's driver and one passenger were taken to the hospital -- but there is no update yet on their conditions.

"One [person] got out and they had to help a woman get out," Glenn said. "They say another car came on the side of the road and forced them off the road, from what I heard.”

Glenn is now planning to hire an engineer and construction company to repair the damages on her home and call her insurance company.

"This is my fourth car I've lost living here --- lived here my whole life though, [and] my father lost two cars so that's six cars in the family that we've lost in this street. It's a speedway," Glenn said.
