VINEYARD HAVEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An investigation is underway on Martha's Vineyard after authorities say a white minivan driven by a 91-year-old woman crashed on the vehicle deck of a Steamship Authority ferry on Wednesday morning while the vessel was docked at the SSA's Vineyard Haven Terminal.
According to authorities, the vehicle was speeding when it entered the M/V Island Home's vehicle deck and drove across its entire length before ramming into the ferry's rear loading doors.
The deck was empty at the time. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The ferry was temporarily taken out of service. The minivan was removed from the ferry.
