CARVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Carver man has died after driving his vehicle off a dirt road and into a body of water on Saturday, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced.

Officials say 35-year-old Brendan McGaffigan was unresponsive when officers arrived on scene, finding that his truck had become submerged in the water in the vicinity of 7 Holmes Street. McGaffigan, the sole occupant, was removed from the vehicle by people on scene, and was transported to Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced dead.

Carver Police say they have contacted the Massachusetts State Police and an investigation commenced, the preliminary findings of which indicates that McGaffigan drove off the dirt road down an embankment into a pond, when his truck landed upside down in the water, trapping him inside.
