BROCKTON. Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Catholic Charities Boston stopped in Brockton on Monday to hand out hundreds of Thanksgiving meals to those in need.
The organization distributed 400 meals to Brockton locals, which is part of their larger goal of giving out 4,000 meals across Greater Boston for Thanksgiving.
President and CEO of Catholic Boston Charities Kelley Tuthill detailed what exactly they’re giving to folks.
“We’ve got bags filled with fresh produce, pumpkin and apple pies, apple cider, and of course, a turkey, the most important part,” she said.
Tuthill explained how important this event is for so many Bostonians, especially in a year where SNAP benefit uncertainty has been prevalent.
“It’s been so much uncertainty and so much anxiety as the safety net is really under fire, and so I think this is an important day because people are seeing a lot of others care about them,” she said. “They want to make sure everyone gets a healthy meal and enjoys time with their family this Thanksgiving.”

Santa Claus even made an appearance, keeping with the theme the organization was going for.
“It reminds us that this is about joy and spreading hope,” Tuthill said.
Along with Brockton, Catholic Charities Boston have already made stops in Dorchester and South Boston. They are set to stop in Lynn and Lowell on Tuesday.
