Cause Of Death Determined For Whitman UNH Student

Main street in Durham, N.H. UNH student Vincenzo "Vinny" Lirosi of Whitman was found dead off of Coe Drive in the town on Sunday.

DURHAM, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner says the death of University of New Hampshire student Vincenzo "Vinny" Lirosi of Whitman was accidental. The medical examiner released the autopsy report on Wednesday, saying that the 22-year-old had drowned.

Lirosi was found in a marshy wooded area off of Coe Drive in Durham. Police think he was trying to walk back to his Woodland Road home early Saturday morning and took a shortcut through a wooded path.

UNH Dean of Students Michael Blackman said Lirosi got in a fight at a Sigma Chi fraternity event before he eventually went missing overnight Saturday. The chapter has been temporarily suspended, pending the police investigation into Lirosi's death. The fraternity said Lirosi had intruded on a "Welcome Home" event for a member that had returned home from the military, according to the AP.
