BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Celtics announced that they have acquired Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trailblazers earlier Saturday morning.
The Celtics traded guard Malcolm Brogdon, center Robert Williams and two future first-round picks in exchange for Holiday.
“We are excited to see Jrue in a Celtics uniform,” said Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens. He plays the game with a great competitive character and his impact on and off the court has been felt everywhere throughout his career.
Holiday was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Portland Trailblazers on Sept. 27, sending Trailblazer legend Damian Lillard to the Bucks. He spent three seasons with the Bucks, helping them win the 2021 NBA Championship with an average of 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in the playoffs.
Holiday has received a number of awards for his work on and off the court, including the 2020-21 NBA Sportsmanship Award, the 2023 Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian ESPY Award and three Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Awards.
