BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The NBA-leading Celtics now have a 9-1 record thanks to their 140-133 win over the Washington Wizards Wednesday night.

It's the first time the Celtics have been 9-1 since the 2007-08 season, the same year they won the NBA Finals.

The game also saw former Celtics star Isaiah Thomas return to TD Garden with the Wizards.

"As a competitor, I hate it," Thomas said when asked what it's like seeing his old team have so much success. "But I mean to see them gelling like they are and playing the best basketball of any team in the NBA right now, I mean you gotta take your hats off to them. They got really great players, they got a really great coaching staff to put them in position and be successful."

The Celtics will try for their tenth straight win Friday when they take on the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco.
