BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A lobster truck theft in Charlestown early Tuesday morning ended in a two-vehicle crash and a suspect in custody.

Employees from a local lobster company were loading a box truck when the suspect, a 29-year-old male from South Boston, jumped into the truck's cabin and sped off.

Inside the truck was at least $10,000 worth of lobsters.

Several of the lobster company employees gave chase in a second box truck, catching up to the suspect on Medford St. near Main St.

The suspect refused to stop, instead deliberately crashing his truck into the second. The employees were able to detain the suspect until police arrived on scene.

The suspect was charged with stealing a motor vehicle and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He has since been arraigned in Charlestown District Court.
