CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — From Bus Stop to Flower Walk.
A transformation has taken place in Chelsea at an MBTA Bus Stop.
Local artists worked with city and MBTA officials to create what they call 'an immersive nature, transit, and art experience' for bus riders and residents'.
The new art installation called 'Flower Walk' at the bus stop on Broadway and 3rd St. includes eight native trees, 175 plantings, and hand-stenciled flowers along the street.
The stop also now features a new platform for easier access for people in wheelchairs or with strollers or carts.
City of Chelsea's Alex Crane said the Flower Walk is part of a downtown initiative to improve residents' quality of life. "By enlivening the stop with plantings, a public garden, and a lot of color, we're hoping to brighten people's day as they're waiting for the bus for work, or as they're going on with their daily routine," he said.
