Chelsea Man Arraigned On Manslaughter Charge Following Death Of Roommate

CHELSEA, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Chelsea has been charged in the beating death of his roommate over the weekend.

Bartolo Cruz Cosigua Gonzalez was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of manslaughter following the death of 25-year-old Alexis Antonio Yanes-Majano.

Authorities said they found Yanes-Majano lying on the ground and unresponsive outside a Pearl Street apartment building in Chelsea on Saturday around 11 a.m.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

When police searched the victim’s apartment, they said they found Gonzalez inside as well as blood in the victim’s bedroom.

A warrant for Gonzalez’s arrest was issued after detectives collected evidence, including surveillance video footage. Gonzalez turned himself into police on Monday.

At his arraignment Tuesday afternoon, bail for Gonzalez was set at $100,000 on the condition he be placed under home confinement, wear a GPS monitoring device, and remain alcohol free.
