Child, Woman Seriously Injured In Single-Car Crash In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A child passenger and female driver were taken to the hospital late Thursday afternoon after a single-car crash in Wilmington.

According to Massachusetts State Police, the vehicle was driving southbound on Route I-93 near Exit 33 when it hit a guardrail on the right and flipped over onto the Northbound side.

A child passenger was transported to a Boston hospital by medical helicopter and a female driver was transported by ground ambulance. Both victims are seriously injured.

All lanes were shut down on both sides of the highway as officers responded to the scene. Southbound lanes were reopened at around 5 p.m. -- and Northbound lanes reopened later towards 6 p.m.

MSP Collision Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services both responded to the scene.
