BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A group of young professionals is trying to build Boston’s business scene from the ground floor.
The Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce’s City Awake program aims to give professionals under the age of 30 more experiences to enhance their personal and professional network. Their goal is to improve the lives of young professionals in Boston and to retain them long after their 20's.
Senior Program Manager Jassica Sanon said more young professionals and future leaders are looking to grow in Boston.
“We have a lot of people who are super excited to get involved in Boston and that’s what we really are all about,” said Sanon.
On Wednesday, City Awake hosted an event called “Awakening the Next Generation of Leaders,” giving Boston’s college and graduate students a chance to learn more about the program. Jules, a 24-year-old on the advisory board, said the group is tackling issues like transportation, affordability and night life.
“Night life was a big one this past year, just things like that. I think mostly for me, it’s getting involved and making sure that young people and people like myself have a voice at the table and a seat in the room,” said Jules.
