EVERETT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A coalition of mayors are calling for transparency regarding the New England Revolution Soccer Stadium in Everett.

The City Mayors for Citizens said they are concerned about how the stadium will impact local infrastructure, public transportation and the overall quality of life for their residents. The coalition includes mayors from Chelsea, Medford, Malden and Revere. While some locals say they are looking forward to having a stadium closer to their neighborhood where they can take their families, others think that the concern is justified.

"They should definitely get together and then discuss this and see what the best place would be to put it. They definitely got to take into consideration the traffic," one resident said.

Built with private funding from team owner, Robert Kraft, the 25,000 seat stadium would sit on 43-acres of land near Mystic Generating Station along the Mystic River. While the proposed stadium has seen some progress at the state level, it still needs community agreements from the surrounding cities. Larry from Roxbury said he is very familiar with this process.

"The stadium that they're building in Franklin Park, they shouldn't have did it because all the traffic over there. Roxbury is too small to have a big stadium and then have all the incoming traffic," Larry said. "It's too big for all of that and it's not built for all of that."

A spokesperson for the stadium said they do appreciate the concerns being brought to their attention and that they will be reviewed and addressed.
