BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio— The City of Boston is checking its rear-view mirror and planning to review a number of street safety improvements.

The multi-year effort to improve street safety has included projects like protected bike lines in the Back Bay, bus-only lanes, and more speed humps citywide. City officials are expected to take another look at some of these projects to see if they are making things safer.

Back in February, Mayor Wu announced that they are getting rid of the bus-only lane on Boylston Street because it did not work as planned. Now, the one on Huntington Avenue is expected to be under review.

WBZ NewsRadio’s James Rojas asked people on Huntington Avenue how the bus-only lane has impacted them. Opinions were split.

“I mean, it is working. I think it’s working, but they have to look at it first because it causes a lot of traffic too,” said one man.

“Honestly, I think they’re pointless. It just causes more mayhem and more chaos on the streets, so I just think it’s not even worth it,” said another man.

“I see them working, and I think they’re doing a great job at it,” said another man.

“Everything they’re doing right now in the street as far as street work it’s pointless. It don’t make [any] sense, it just causes more problems,” said another man.
