BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Is the ample ongoing attention and media coverage on climate change getting you stressed out or even down in the dumps?

If so, you’re not alone.

There are clinical terms, including “climate stress” and “eco-anxiety,” that refer to a condition where people can feel stressed out and even hopeless about their future when it comes to the damage climate change may be doing to planet Earth and future generations of humans.

Dr. Jeremy Wortzel is a psychiatry resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

He said climate stress can especially affect young people who may be feeling pressured by older generations to ‘do something’ about climate change. “These are terms that represent this growing existential threat that some of us can feel about our future.”

But there is help available. Dr. Wortzel said there is a growing number of climate-aware therapists to help people with these issues.

WBZ’s Nichole Davis (@NicholeDWBZ) reports.
