BOSTON (WBZ News Radio) – A historic theater in Dorchester is setting the stage to get the Covid-19 vaccine into the arms of more Commonwealth residents.
The Strand Theater in Upham's Corner has become a vaccination site for the shot -- not long after it was being used as a testing location for the virus as well.
Upham's Corner Health Center and Brigham and Women's hospital are the ones administering the vaccine at the Columbia Road theater as part of an effort to build immunity in one of the hardest hit communities in Boston.
Vaccinations are being done by appointment-only and the clinic is open Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Health officials are starting with around 100 vaccinations per day, with the goal of eventually building up to 1,200 per day.
Covid-19 testing will still be available at the location, regardless of whether or not a person has Covid-19 symptoms.
