HAMPTON, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The U.S. Coast Guard has found three unresponsive people after conducting a search for four missing people where an overturned boat was discovered in New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon. One boater remains missing.
Coast Guard officials tell WBZ NewsRadio that they found an overturned boat matching the description of the one that went missing on Thursday afternoon.
Michael Sai of Hampton and three others set off from Hampton Harbor at about 6:00 AM on Wednesday.
The small 17-foot fishing boat could be as far as 50 miles offshore. Coast Guard units began searching late Wednesday night.
Planes, boats and helicopters are still scouring the New Hampshire coast as of early Thursday afternoon.
Units from U.S. Coast Guard stations in Gloucester and Newburyport have joined in the search.
