WARWICK, R.I. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The U.S. Coast Guard is continuing to scour Narragansett Bay for an 11-year-old girl who went missing in the water.

The girl and another adult swimmer went missing off of Conimicut Point in Warwick on Saturday, Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi said. Police got the call at around 3:00 PM Saturday, according to the Associated Press. Two other swimmers were pulled from the water yesterday and transported to the hospital, the mayor said.

Authorities searched for the girl through the night.

The Coast Guard said that the adult, a 30-year-old man, was recovered, unresponsive, from the water later on Saturday. Mayor Picozzi said the man was dead when he was recovered, and called the man a "hero" for reportedly jumping in the water to save the 11-year-old girl.

The Coast Guard is joined by several local agencies in looking for the girl, including the Warwick Police and Fire Departments.

No names have been released yet.
