Coast Guard Suspends Search For Man Overboard Off Southern Mass.

BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a 54-year-old man that went overboard off a fishing boat around midnight Friday just off Point Judith.

The Coast Guard Northeast says the search covered around 1,065 square nautical miles, spending 53 hours on the search.

Officials say the fisherman was onboard the boat "Susan Rose," a 77-foot Stern Trawler that was bound for a route traveling between New Bedford and Nomans Island in Chilmark, according to WBZ-TV.

According to the Coast Guard, CG STA Menemsha, CG Air Station Cape Cod, and the Buzzards Bay Task Force assisted in the search.

Officials say the search is suspended pending further developments.
