COHASSET, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley announced on Saturday that one of his officers suddenly passed away while out with co-workers Friday afternoon.
The statement, posted on the Cohasset Police Department's Facebook page, said that Officer Mark Jenkins collapsed, and that CPR and life-savings measures from his peers and emergency services were unsuccessful in resuscitating him. Officials thanked the medical personnel and Carney Hospital that attended to Jenkins, for their efforts to save the officer.
"While our hearts are filled with sorrow, they are also filled with love, as we help Mark’s wife and children with final arrangements. Please say a prayer for the Jenkins family," Quigley said.
According to the CPD, Officer Jenkins was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division where he worked as a police computer forensic expert for the department and the United States Coast Guard Investigative Service.
Officials said that arrangements will be announced as soon as they are final.
