BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mascots from the Colleges of the Fenway all met Thursday afternoon to kick off the school year.
According to the Colleges of the Fenway website, “The Colleges of the Fenway (COF) is a collaborative of five neighboring Boston-based colleges and universities in the Fenway area. COF was created to add value to student academic and social life, while seeking innovative methods of investing in new services and containing the costs of higher education. Collectively, the colleges represent more than 12,000 undergraduate students.”
Simmons University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Emmanuel College, Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences each had their school mascot gather at Evans Way Park in The Fens to show off their sense of collective community.
The mascots in question are Stormy the Shark from Simmons, Willy the Leopard from Wentworth, Halo the Saint Bernard from Emmanuel, Marty the Mastodon from MassArt, and Red the Cardinal from MCPHS.

Joline from MCPHS was a big fan of this celebration of the colleges.
“I think this is really fun, I think it’s really showcasing the energy that we’re going to give for the Colleges of the Fenway,” Joline said. “I think it’s really going to be a great year.”
Leila from MassArt showed similar excitement, feeling that this meet-up represented this community in a great way.
“I think it’s wonderful, I do theater with a lot of the other colleges in the Colleges of the Fenway cohort, so I think that the more companionship, the better,” Leila said. “There are so many resources and so many awesome people at these other schools, so I think that if our mascots can be friends, then we should be too.”
