In 2022, Compass Medical split from Dallas-based Steward Medical Group amid a major lawsuit filed in Suffolk Superior Court. In that suit, Compass wanted Steward to pay more than $80 million in damages for allegedly violating an agreement over bonuses to doctors and rent for equipment and office space.

The jury rejected these claims, instead ruling that Compass Medical had committed fraud against Steward and ordering Compass Medical to pay more than $16 million.

It is not known if the lawsuit and the closure are related.

This is an ongoing story.
