Connecticut Baseball Field Set Aflame With Gasoline

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A baseball field in Ridgefield, Conn. is expected be closed for a week after 24 gallons of gasoline was poured on it and set ablaze Saturday, according to officials.

The fire was set in an effort to dry out the field after poor weather delayed a baseball game that was to be held at the site. The field is located at Governor Park.

Police are currently investigating the incident. No injuries were reported.

According to the town in a Facebook post, the restoration plan “is to excavate the infield, place dirt in a safe container, and add fresh, clean soil to the field.”
