SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As Massachusetts is facing a particularly harsh flu season, Somerville is making it easier to connect residents with vaccines.

Since September, health officials have been setting up free vaccine clinics at different locations throughout the city.

Both covid and flu vaccines are available.

On Tuesday, vaccines were being given out at the Central Public Library.

Somerville's Director of Public Health Nursing Celeste Gearheart said one of the things she wants residents to know is that, regardless of the timing, what's most important is to ensure people are getting vaccinated. "Every season we come out and go from September to April just to make sure folks always have a chance," she said. "It's never too late to get your vaccine."

Gearheart added that by making vaccines available at different locations, more people will get vaccinated. "We go all over the city and to all the different wards. We try and be as accessible as possible for folks."

Gearheart said vaccines are available by appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome.

The latest schedule of where and when vaccine centers are open can be found on the City of Somerville website.
