ROSLINDALE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Boston Parks and Recreation Department has plans for a narrow strip of woods in Roslindale.

The overgrown acre of woods known as Zero Dale Street was once owned by a railroad company, but was never developed.

"Some of these areas were just used as temporary holding ground for construction debris, construction materials," said Paul Sutton, director of the Parks and Rec Department's Urban Wilds program. "And it’s a very difficult parcel to build on because it’s narrow."

According to Sutton, nearby residents have wanted to turn Zero Dale Street into a hiking path for many years.

This summer, the City of Boston purchased the land through eminent domain with plans to clean up all the construction trash.

Although the area is open to the public, Sutton said it could take more than a year to make the small wooded parcel pristine.
