BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Following a $14 million renovation that includes two new movie houses, Brookline's Coolidge Corner Theatre has re-opened with many improvements.
The theatre's Deputy Director Beth Gilligan said she's thrilled to finally see people in the new upgraded space. "It's the realization of a long-time dream come true," she said. "Just to be able to have more screens, more education space, and an indoor lobby. It's going to be the Coolidge everyone knows and loves, only bigger and better."
The building that houses the theater first opened in 1906 as the Beacon Universalist Church.
The new expansion includes a wrap-around deck, as well as a meeting space for people in the community to use for various events like birthday parties.
Moviegoers will also appreciate restrooms now on every floor of the theatre.
