BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Public Schools have announced three campuses of the Eliot K-8 school will be closed for a week beginning Thursday due to coronavirus concerns.
"This is due to a presumptive positive case of the coronavirus in a non-student member of the school community," school officials wrote on Twitter. "We encourage everyone who has been physically inside one of three Eliot buildings to practice social distancing and avoid public places until 03/20/20."
"Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our students and staff," officials added.
"We encourage everyone at the school who has been physically inside one of the three Eliot buildings recently to practice what we call 'social distancing,' and avoid public places," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh told WBZ NewsRadio.
School officials say they plan to open all three campuses a week from now on Thursday, March 19th.
Anyone associated with the school who is experiencing symptoms should reach out to their primary care provider or the Boston Public Health Commission.
