Martha's Vineyard Reports First Coronavirus Case

TISBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The town of Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard announced the island's first case of coronavirus Friday.

"The patient is under quarantine at their Tisbury home and appears to be recovering," a statement from the town's Board of Health read. "The patient’s family and close contacts have been identified and are in self-quarantine and taking all recommended precautions."

In order to protect the patient's privacy, the town said, they would not be releasing any additional information at this time.

"Rest assured that the Tisbury Board of Health has followed CDC and DPH guidelines for tracing and isolating close contacts to prevent further spread of the illness from this particular case," the statement read.
