7 Coronavirus Cases Linked To Revere Senior Living Center

REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Seven cases of coronavirus have been linked to a single senior living center in Revere.

Five patients at the Jack Satter House have been hospitalized, and one has died, Revere Mayor Brian Arrigo's office said in a release—though the person's cause of death has not yet been confirmed.

“My heart goes out to the family that has lost their loved one, and to the others who continue to fight the virus,” Mayor Arrigo said in a statement.

Arrigo said further restrictions at the Jack Satter House were being put into place, and that his office was issuing further guidance to the city's other senior housing facilities.

At the Satter House:

  • The nearly 300 residents are now quarantined to their individual units.
  • Residents who leave will not be permitted to return, even if they leave with a family ember.
  • Staff and health aides entering the premises will undergo "rigorous screenings and temperature checks."
  • A phone bank has been set up for daily check-ins with each resident in quarantine.

The mayor also reminded Revere residents to follow the stay-at-home advisory, and to sign up for email and text messages at revere.org/coronavirus.

"COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus," Arrigo said. "It is imperative that everyone take measures to stem the spread within our community by staying at home."

Lou Wolf, President and CEO of Hebrew Life, the Jack Satter House's parent company, said they are doing "absolutely everything humanly possible."

"Ever since this started, we've been incredibly concerned and vigilant," he said. "The city's been great, the state's been really good, the federal government has been insufficiently focused on this. We're definitely concerned, and sort of expecting the worst and hoping for the best."

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health said there were a total of 33 cases of the virus in Revere.
