Could Gronk Come Out Of Retirement?

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Never seeing Rob Gronkowski play professional football again is a tough pill for some fans to swallow. The New England Patriots tight end announced his retirement from the game Sunday.

If that’s even true...

Some Gronkspiracy theorists are floating the idea that Gronk could make a comeback in the near future.

Willie McGinest, a former New England Patriot and current commentator for the NFL Network, floated a wild X-Filesesque theory on March 12.

“Well I think he’s going to start the season by being retired,” McGinest said “But I think he’s going to get the itch, I think he’s going to be in great shape and he’s going to have that feeling: ‘Hey, I want to come back.’”

McGinest implied, as a former footballer, that Gronkowski still loves the game. He predicts that Gronk will let his body and mind rest up before calling it quits for good.

Drew Rosenhaus, Gronkowski's agent, fueled this theory on Get Up ESPN.

"If the team was struggling or they needed him at some point next year, and let’s just say hypothetically Tom Brady gave him a call and said ‘Rob, I need you.’ I wouldn’t be shocked if he came back to play a few games.”

So best of luck to Gronkowski in his retirement...for now.
