BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Tom Brady's future at the Patriots is still wholly uncertain, but at a weekend college basketball game, one of TB12's (possibly former) teammates tried to hint at what he thinks may be in store.
Brady and New England wide receiver Julian Edelman were spotted at Saturday's Syracuse vs. North Carolina game, and Edelman appeared to mouth into ESPN's camera of Brady; "He's coming back! He's coming back!" Brady did not seem amused, shaking his head and mouthing; "he's not."
We can only imagine how Brady must have felt when his favorite receiver started selling T-shirts that say "Stay. Tom 2020. A Quarterback you can trust." Edleman tweeted "New England is a Tomocracy."
The next day, ESPN's Ian Rapoport discussed who might be the next New England Quarterback if Brady does decide to leave.
"If the Patriots lose Tom Brady, one of their back up plans may end up being Andy Dalton." Rapoport said.
Dalton has been the Bengals quarterback for nearly a decade, and according to WBZ NewsRadio sports reporter Adam Kaufman, he's been "remarkably unremarkable."
"Barely a winning record, pedestrian stats, and win-less in four playoff games," Kaufman said. "Last year, the 32-year-old went 2 and 11."
Kaufman said the Patriots should look to their second string QB before considering signing Dalton. "Give me Brady's back up Jarrett Stidham, before trading for Dalton and his nearly $18 million contract."
