COVID-Death Toll Nears 14,300 In Massachusetts

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported another 2,546 confirmed cases of COVID-19 Sunday, bringing the state's total number of confirmed cases to 498,145.

The state DPH also reported another 46 deaths among COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts, upping the state's confirmed coronavirus death toll to 14,287.

There have also been 290 deaths reported among probable cases of the virus in the state.

The estimated number of active cases of the virus in Massachusetts, signifying the number of patients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in the past 21 days, has dropped to 71,948.

There are currently 1,676 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across the Commonwealth, 371 of whom are receiving intensive care. 231 are intubated.

According to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Research Center, the U.S. has confirmed more than 26 million cases of COVID-19, and more than 440,000 Americans have died of the virus to date.
