BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Firefighters battled two heavy fires at homes in the Allston and Dorchester neighborhoods early Saturday morning.

The Boston Fire Department said crews responded to a three-alarm fire shortly after 2:30 a.m. to a residence at 65 Pratt St. in Allston. Companies focused on attacking the fire from above as it traveled across the top floors from the back of the building to the front.

At one point, the fire was so intense that firefighters were ordered out of the building, officials said.

The Allston blaze was knocked down after two hours. Firefighters stayed on the scene to monitor hot spots.

According to Deputy Chief James Greene, eight people were displaced and a few firefighters were treated for burns. The fire caused an estimated $2 million in damages. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

That same morning at around 6:10 a.m., Boston Fire responded to a fire at 418 Bowdoin St. in Dorchester. Companies worked to ensure the three-alarm fire didn't spread to nearby buildings because of their close proximity, officials said.

After the fire was knocked down, Deputy Chief Brian Tully said one person was displaced and one person was treated for minor injuries as a result of the blaze. The cause of the Dorchester fire is under investigation.
