BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is holding its Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl at the Boston City Hall Plaza this week.
The annual all-you-can-eat ice cream festival started back in 1983, and, according to Dana-Farber Jimmy Fund website, “The event has raised over $7.5 million to support cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to date.”
Director of Events & Partnerships at Dana-Farber Briana Lynch-Haddad said that they are going even bigger for this year’s event.
“We have the most venders that we’ve ever had, with 17 ice cream venders over the course of the 3 days,” she said. “All the product totals over 4,000 gallons.”

Lynch-Haddad also expressed how excited she was for another year of the Boston community bonding over ice cream and raising money for the Jimmy Fund’s research.
“It’s just a lovely experience where everybody can come together, have some ice cream, and learn more about the great lifesaving mission of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund,” she said. “You can come down during your lunch break or after work or bring the kids…it’s just a really great opportunity to come together as a community. And who doesn’t like ice cream?”
The Scooper Bowl will run from Tuesday, June 3 to Thursday, June 5 from noon to 8 p.m. The 3-day festivity is for all ages, with the exception of Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. which is the bowl’s 21+ ‘Scoop at Night’ event.
You can find more information regarding the event on the Dana-Farber website.
