BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Patriots fans, remember Danny "Playoff" Amendola? His run with the Pats had a memorable end in 2017—two touchdowns in the AFC title game, then 152 yards in a Super Bowl loss.

Ultimately, he left for Miami but, when the Dolphins cut him, New Englanders were thinking reunion. Reportedly, so was he.

But Amendola plans to join former Pats staffers Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia, Detroit's general manager and head coach.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport told "Good Morning Football" this is a calculated move.

"So much of what Detroit has been doing has been about culture and learning to win," Rapoport said. "This is now, they believe, a big piece of that—trying to take what was so successful in New England and bring it to Detroit."

It's reportedly a one-year deal worth up to $5.75 million, with $4.5 million guaranteed.

Amendola had 575 yards, a touchdown, and 59 catches in 15 Dolphins games.
