In Danvers, A Goat Eviction Showdown

DANVERS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — There's a fight kicking up in Danvers over a pair of goats.

Dean and Deluca are two goats who live on Hobart Street. Brittany DuPont Raesly, goat mom and owner of Daily Harvest Cafe on High Street, has kept them there for eight years.

They're technically illegal at her address, although a house one block over has pet goats legally.

An abutting neighbor complained about Dean and Deluca, but dozens and dozens of other neighbors have signed a petition at Daily Harvest Cafe saying they should stay.

Among those who don't want the furry pair evicted is neighbor Shelly Barberi.

"I love the goats," she said. "They're adorable, and my dog loves them too. We come to say hi to them all the time, and they talk back to us. Really, they do! They love the interaction with people ... ladies with baby carriages come up here and the little kids always come up to pat them and see them, they're very friendly."

The Danvers Board of Selectmen will butt heads on the issue next week.
