BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — This Monday, Dave McGillivray did what he usually does on Patriots' Day: he ran a marathon.
This time, however, McGillivray wasn't running the Boston Marathon — he was running a marathon around his neighborhood.
McGillivray has directed the Boston Marathon for three decades, but for the second time in recent memory, that Marathon is not being held on Patriots' Day. It will be held in October.
So instead, McGillivray is using his logistical talents this spring to help stand up and run vaccine distribution sites for the state with his business, DMSE Sports.
"They reached out to us and asked us if we would be interested in being involved to help with some logistics of setting up the vaccination sites," he said.
The state needed McGillivray's help to set up some of the best known mass vaccination sites in the state: Gillette Stadium, Fenway Park, The Reggie Lewis Center, and Hynes Convention Center.
