BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – The wife of a former Red Sox star said the couple is calling it quits.

Tiffany Ortiz, wife of David Ortiz, announced on Monday that she and her husband are splitting up after 25 years of marriage. She addressed the decision on Instagram.

“David and I have shared a beautiful adventure in love and partnership,” Ortiz wrote in the post. “We have made the decision to go into a new phase of our life journey together, not as a couple, but as friends and co-parents.”

Ortiz’s message did not mention any other details about the couple’s split. This is the second time the couple announced plans to go their separate ways. In 2013, they said they were seeking a divorce, but later reconciled.

Ortiz is currently a candidate to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame after being named one of 13 first-time candidates last month. Ortiz joins 17 other candidates on the ballot.

The former Red Sox player retired from Major League Baseball five years ago and works as an MLB studio analyst for Fox Sports. Ortiz and his wife have three children together.
