BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Former Boston Police commissioner Ed Davis is investigating the shooting that nearly killed Red Sox legend David Ortiz, despite Dominican police stating Ortiz was not the intended target.
“The Edward Davis Company is monitoring and analyzing information from various sources in the Dominican Republic around the motives for the shooting of David Ortiz on June 9th,” Ed Davis' spokesman Joe Baerlein said Sunday. “The Edward Davis company is also providing personal security services for David Ortiz and his family.”
Dominican authorities have arrested more than a dozen people in connection with the shooting that occurred June 9th.
Ortiz was flown to Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital after an initial round of surgery in the Dominican Republic, and eventually released by the end of July.
