WELLFLEET, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A six-foot porbeagle shark was found washed up dead on a Wellfleet beach Sunday.

The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy shared an image of the shark taken by Cape Cod National Seashore rangers. They said the shark was found about half a mile north of Marconi Beach.

According to the Cape Cod Times, the shark was first spotted by a paraglider who attempted to push the shark back into the water, before the surf pushed it back onto the sand.

It wasn't yet known what caused the shark's death. The conservancy said they notified the Massachusetts Department of Marine Fisheries.
