BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The MBTA is dealing with more debris falling from a station celling, this time at Forest Hills. T officials say a chunk of felt fell onto the Commuter Rail platform Wednesday. The debris appears to have been a piece of bridge joint padding.
An MBTA spokesman stressed that the falling debris weighed less than a pound and was not concrete.
Water has been dripping onto the Forest Hills platform from the hole that was left behind. The area is now surrounded by caution tape and cones.
The incident follows an incident at Harvard Station earlier in March, where a falling 25-pound ceiling panel slammed into the ground inches from a rider.
"Makes you kind of worried walking onto the stations and the trains themselves," one commuter said. He said he didn't feel safe day-to-day. Another commuter said she regularly takes the Commuter Rail, and began to notice debris falling from the ceiling at Forest Hills as early as last summer.
