TOPSFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — State fairs love standing out with outside the box food, and the Topsfield Fair is throwing its hat in the ring by frying up a New England staple, clam chowder.
The stand Chompers is selling this mad concoction that consists of clam, bacon, potato, and celery all deep fried inside in panko breadcrumbs.
“A lot of people have been intrigued for sure. They see the sign and say oh what’s this,” The stand owner’s daughter, Lavender said.
Word is getting out about this Massachusetts delicacy.
“This is classic. And it’s a excellent way to eat soup when it’s hot out and you’re on the go,” Topsfield Fair goer Alex said.
“This is Massachusetts to its core right here,” another fried chowder fan named Josh said.
The Topsfield fair runs through Oct. 13.
