WATERTOWN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Deluxe Town Diner has been a Watertown staple dating back to the 1940s, but they have recently garnered some national recognition for their quality meals sold at low prices.
The food website loveFOOD posted an article on July 10, sharing what they felt were the best places in every state for a blue-plate special, which is generally a full meal with a meat, three sides and a drink, for a bargain price.
Deluxe Town Diner was chosen as the Massachusetts representative on this list.
Don Levy and his wife have been running the diner for the past 25 years, and Don has made it clear that many folks have made this place their food home, many of which have been dining there for years.
“We have people who eat here every day, and some people eat here two meals a day,” he said. “We’ve got families who had young kids who had just been born and now they're graduated college.”

Levy discussed the blue-plate specials that are the most popular at the restaurant.
“Fish & chips, turkey dinner with all the fixings, meatloaf is very popular, and then we have our side vegetables that go with those,” he said.
Each of these meals are twenty dollars or less, something Levy is very proud of.
“These days you can eat for less than you can buy in a supermarket,” he said.
When he heard about the loveFOOD list, Levy said he was just happy that they were a place that served quality food.
“We’re one of many restaurants; we do serve good food,” Levy said.
