DENNIS PORT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On Sunday morning, the Dennis Port Fire Department responded to a structure fire off Route 28.
Upon arrival, smoke was seen leaking out from a single-story wood frame dwelling. Crews say they had to pull a 1 3/4 hose line to extinguish the fire and contain it to a bed.
There was reportedly no one inside home at the time of the fire that caused heat and smoke damage. Early investigation suggests that "careless disposal of smoking material" was to blame for the fire's cause, but officials are continuing to investigate.
