BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Greater Boston and much of Eastern Massachusetts was swamped by a blanket of dense fog on Wednesday morning, disrupting the morning commute.

The National Weather Service issued a Dense Fog Advisory from the Merrimack Valley down through the Cape and Islands, active until 10:00 a.m. NWS Meteorologist Bill Leatham told WBZ NewsRadio some spots of dense fog could continue into the afternoon.

The Service is warning drivers to keep their eyes on the road as the fog moves through.

WBZ Accuweather Meteorologist Dean DeVore is predicting more rain throughout the day, which could start ponding on roads and sidewalks. The first chance at sunny weather in days will be Thursday, with temperatures in the 70's — warm for October.
